From the Sphere Spinner to the Witchmaker:

Sphere Spinner: Hello Katie! We are thrilled to have you with us again here at Immortal Portals to talk about your new book. Spill the potion! What is Antebellum Awakening about?

Witchmaker: Antebellum Awakening picks up just a few months after we left Bianca at Miss Mabel’s School for Girls. Instead of haunted Letum Wood, Bianca is now living in the castle: and she hates it. Her magical powers have become out of control and she has to figure out how to control them or risk hurting herself or her friends.

Sphere Spinner: How do you feel about writing your first series? Is it different than writing a stand-alone book?

Witchmaker: Definitely different! But in some ways absolutely the same. It’s different because you have to have a long term mindset. I’m constantly asking myself, ‘will this decision affect my later books? What was the room decorated like in book one?’
But it’s also really similar because I still felt I was building characters, settings, and plot into that specific book, even though it’s part of a series.

his is another view of Letum Wood as you'll expect to find it in the summer. It's lush, gorgeous, and a little on the dangerous side.

Something new is awake in Letum Wood.

Sphere Spinner: Bianca had a rough ending in MMSFG. What can we expect to see from her in AA?

Break
Witchmaker: Poor girl did have a rough ending, didn’t she? (My bad). Because of the less-than-perfect ending to the first book, Bianca finds that her grief is now taking control of her. She’s making rash decisions, she’s angry, she’s scared, and she’s trying desperately to move on.

Sphere Spinner: How many miles have you run this week? How does your running feed into Bianca’s character?
Break

Witchmaker: Bianca wasn’t totally interesting to me until she ran. I do a lot of trail running (although lately it’s been hiking. My husband and I just got back from a really intense hike!) I gave her that talent or pastime of running because she grew up under a lot of pressure; she needed to have a way of venting it off.

Sphere Spinner: Who is your favorite super hero and why?
Break

Witchmaker: Thor because of his long, flowing tresses.

Sphere Spinner: (Long flowing tresses, hmmm, sounds familiar!) Give one tip for emerging authors to lead them to success.

Witchmaker: Read amazing books. Seriously. You can’t write well if you don’t know what reads well. Bad books will lead you down the wrong path!
